Today, we dive into a topic that is both shocking and disappointing, yet unfortunately repetitive. Fraud in Vietnam isn’t limited to real estate or financial markets; it has infiltrated the education sector once again. Imagine that—fraud in Vietnam education, an area meant for growth and trust. But it’s happening, and it’s happening in Vietnam.
I guess pitching on Shark Tank Vietnam is like navigating a stormy sea—one wrong move, and the next thing you know, you’re shark bait! In this video, we expose what went wrong, who’s behind it, how you can avoid being scammed, and the necessary measures needed to improve Vietnam’s educational image.
Who’s at the Center of This Scandal?
At the heart of this scandal is Nguyen Ngoc Thuy, the chairman of Egroup, an education corporation that owns the English language school chain, Apax Leaders. Shark Thuy was arrested last March, accused of committing fraud to misappropriate properties. This arrest didn’t come out of nowhere; it followed months of thorough investigation into shady business dealings.
The Ministry’s Department for Corruption, Smuggling, and Economic Crimes had been inundated with petitions from investors accusing Thuy of fraudulent activities related to share transfers within Egroup. Thuy wasn’t alone in this; the head of the Shareholders Relations Department at EGame Investment and Distribution JSC, another Egroup subsidiary, was also arrested.
