After two years of harsh travel restrictions preventing international tourists from entering the country, the Office of Government issued an official notice (No. 43/TB-VPCP ) convening the resumption of entry to Vietnam under the purpose of tourism from March 15, 2022. Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam agreed to the Ministry of Tourism’s reopening plan and timeframe.
In the below translated notice to English, the Deputy Prime Minister approved the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s proposal and opinions “from ministries and agencies attending the meeting on reopening tourism in the new normal according to directions of the Government and Prime Minister on “flexible and safe adaptation to, and effective control over the COVID-19 pandemic from March 15, 2022.”.

NOTICE
On Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam’s conclusion at the meeting on the plan for resumption of tourism
On the morning of February 15, 2022, at the Government Office, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has chaired a meeting with ministries and sectors on the plan for resumption of tourism for flexible and safe adaptation to, and effective control over the COVID-19 pandemic, in association with socio-economic recovery. Participants to the meeting include the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; representatives of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Government Office; and representatives of the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Information and Communications. After listening to delegates’ opinions, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam concluded as follows:
- To agree with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s proposal and opinions from ministries and agencies attending the meeting on reopening tourism in the new normal according to directions of the Government and Prime Minister on “flexible and safe adaptation to, and effective control over the COVID-19 pandemic” from March 15, 2022.
- Request the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism:a) To assume the prime responsibility for, and coordinate with concerned ministries and agencies in, unifying contents and regulations on welcoming international tourists; finalize and urgently announce the plan to reopen tourism activities, with detailed instructions for units and localities to actively organize the implementation.
b) Working specifically with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and related ministries and branches, urgently report to the Government and Prime Minister on visa policies for international tourists entering Vietnam.
The Government Office shall notify relevant ministries, agencies, and People’s Committees of Provinces and Centrally-run Cities to know and implement./.
